Role Overview

Staff Engineer (hands-on technical leadership) for an agile engineering team. You will design, code, review, and mentor while helping raise the engineering bar.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for an agile engineering team
Design, develop, and deliver scalable Java applications using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot
Build cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven solutions
Lead technical design discussions and perform high-quality code reviews
Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices
Drive AI-assisted software development to improve quality and productivity
Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve reliability and performance
Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture to deliver customer value

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience
Expert-level Java development (Java 17/21 preferred)
Strong Spring Boot experience and building RESTful APIs
Experience with distributed, event-driven application development
Hands-on messaging experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar
Cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
Strong SQL/NoSQL knowledge, performance tuning, and debugging
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD
Passion for mentoring and leading by example
AI adoption mindset and experience using AI tools to accelerate development

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor
Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and microservices architecture
Secure software development practices
