Staff Decision Scientist

Role Overview

Join Workiva as a Staff Decision Scientist. You’ll be a strategic thought partner to senior leaders across departments—leading rigorous analyses, building data narratives for executives, and driving analytical excellence at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead hypothesis-driven, rigorous analyses to uncover causal drivers, risks, and opportunities, delivering recommendations aligned to strategic priorities.
• Leverage state-of-the-art analytics capabilities to develop and automate insights at scale, including Snowflake Cortex and AI-assisted workflows.
• Act as a metrics and data product owner, translating new business models and initiatives into:
• well-defined metrics
• measurement frameworks
• self-serve data products
• Drive analytical excellence by raising standards for framing questions, ensuring accuracy, and improving workflows.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in decision science, data analytics, strategy analytics, or a related role in the technology sector.
• Advanced SQL and expert proficiency in complex, multi-source data manipulation.
• Deep understanding of SaaS business models and how analytics drives business outcomes.
• Strong communication and data storytelling skills for executive and cross-functional audiences.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, able to influence without direct authority.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail (from question framing to accurate outputs).
• Statistical analysis proficiency: hypothesis testing, A/B testing, regression analysis, and causal inference.

Nice to Have

• Snowflake (including Cortex) hands-on experience and experience with AI-assisted tools.
• Familiarity with Redshift.
• Data visualization using Sigma, Amazon QuickSight, Superset, or Python libraries.
• Data modeling concepts; dbt experience.
• Python for advanced analysis and automation.
• Data governance/metadata management experience using Atlan or Alation.
