About the role

Role overview

Join Character.AI as a Staff Data Scientist (full remote). Work with product, engineering, and growth teams to scale and optimize the company’s monetization systems using data and experimentation.

Key missions

Partner with product, engineering, and growth to scale and optimize monetization systems.
Define success metrics, lead experimentation, and turn complex behavioral and economic data into actionable insights.
Drive data-informed monetization across:
- Subscriptions and pricing
- Virtual currencies / economies and gamified monetization
- Advertising (including ad marketplaces)

Profile / requirements

Comfortable operating in fast-moving, experimental environments with incomplete data.
Proven ability to translate analysis into product decisions and shipped outcomes.
7+ years as a Data Scientist on consumer-facing products (preferred: chat, social, UGC, entertainment).
Experience building/scaling data science practice, including experimentation, metrics, and analytics tooling.
Strong ability to identify the right questions and drive high-impact insights quickly.

Nice-to-haves

Experience directly supporting monetization systems (subscriptions, virtual currencies/economies, gamified monetization).
Background in B2C consumer products and/or B2B marketplaces.
Experience with advertising / ad marketplaces.
