About the role
Role Overview
Staff Cloud Security Engineer at Huntress (fully remote). You will secure Huntress’s cloud-native infrastructure by defining security standards, partnering with DevOps/Platform teams, running vulnerability and risk management, and owning cloud security compliance.
Key Missions / Responsibilities
- Design and implement architectural security standards for AWS, Azure, and cloud PaaS platforms.
- Partner with DevOps and Platform teams to embed security into the Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) lifecycle.
- Own vulnerability management for cloud environments, including triaging high-severity alerts.
- Security compliance ownership for cloud systems and controls.
- Translate security recommendations into clear documentation and architectural decisions that drive organizational alignment.
Requirements / Profile
- Cloud security expertise with deep knowledge of AWS and/or Azure, including secure cloud/application/system architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud-native security tooling, logging, identity management, and security policies.
- Security-as-Code / IaC mindset: comfortable reading infrastructure code and understanding architectures from code.
- Incident response knowledge, including incident response processes/strategies and awareness of computer forensics; able to query/search datasets (e.g., with SQL, Splunk, or similar).
- Documentation and communication skills to drive clarity and buy-in across teams.
- Remote-first collaboration in distributed, asynchronous settings.
- Risk-based security approach, balancing security, usability, and agility.
- Scripting proficiency using Python or Go (or another scripting language) to parse data and analyze logs.
- SaaS experience and understanding of cloud-first security challenges.
Nice-to-Haves (from the posting)
- Comfort with cloud security tooling and security policy implementation.
- Experience with CI/CD and engineering workflows supporting security checks (e.g., CircleCI).
