Staff Backend Software Engineer (On-prem)

Role overview

Join SentinelOne as a Staff Backend Software Engineer (On-prem). You will build and maintain the backend services that power SentinelOne’s on-premises deployments, ensuring enterprise customers can deploy, operate, and upgrade in air-gapped and restricted environments.

Key missions

• Design and develop backend services in Go (with libraries/frameworks including Flask, SQLAlchemy, gevent) with strong focus on operational correctness and secure upgrade paths.
• Own the deployment lifecycle: build and maintain Docker images and ensure services start correctly across a wide range of customer infrastructure configurations.
• Collaborate closely with the data layer to build safe production migrations using Alembic, evolving schemas without downtime.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with Go in a production microservices environment.
• Deep familiarity with Flask, SQLAlchemy, and async concurrency patterns (gevent or asyncio).
• Hands-on experience deploying containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm charts and reasoning about upgrade paths across multiple deployed versions.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema design, query optimization, and zero-downtime migration scripts using Alembic (or equivalent).
• Solid observability experience: structured logging, distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry (or equivalent), and dashboards in Grafana (or similar).
• Experience building and maintaining gRPC and REST APIs with explicit versioning strategies, especially where breaking changes are costly.
