About the role
Role overview
Join Grafana Labs as a Staff Backend Engineer (Alerting). You’ll partner with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to improve alert management, designing and operating critical backend systems in a remote-first environment.
Key missions
- Build and maintain distributed systems for alert ingestion and delivery.
- Influence the team’s roadmap and deliver new alerting features.
- Mentor teammates, contribute to design discussions, and collaborate across the team.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain core services.
- Support delivery end-to-end, from requirements gathering to shipping to customers.
- Break down complex problems into modular solutions and iterate based on feedback/data.
Requirements
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant backend software that others can maintain.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote setup.
- Customer-focused mindset.
- Solid experience with at least one programming language (the stack uses Go).
- Some experience delivering self-driven projects from requirements to production.
- Some experience with software that runs in the cloud and/or systems engineering.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Python, Java, C++, or Rust.
- Passion for building intuitive, customer-needs-driven products.
- Experience delivering MVPs and iterating with short feedback loops.
