Staff Android Engineer

Role overview

You will work as a Staff Android Engineer at Oviva, helping develop and maintain the company’s mobile apps. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to product work that supports Oviva’s health and social impact mission.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deliver new features for Oviva’s mobile products
• Develop and maintain Android apps by building new features and improving existing ones
• Participate in product discovery and translate product requirements into technical tasks
• Contribute to Agile ways of working, including relevant meetings and ceremonies

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and strong knowledge of Kotlin best practices (with Java as a plus)
• Extensive experience across the full lifecycle of Android development
• 8+ years of software development experience
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical peers and business stakeholders
• Proven problem-solving ability, proactive ownership, and comfort driving solutions independently
• Strong understanding of Android architectures such as MVVM, MVI, and/or MVP

Nice-to-haves / Additional interests

• Curiosity for AI and emerging technologies, with interest in evaluating their use in the Android ecosystem
• Experience with common Android libraries and components, such as:
  • Hilt/Dagger
  • Retrofit
  • Coil/Picasso
  • Room
  • Android SDK including AndroidX, Jetpack Compose, and Navigation
