Staff Android Engineer

Role Overview

Join AlphaSense as a Staff Android Engineer. You will own and evolve the Android architecture and the mobile foundations that drive product quality across customer workflows. This is a hands-on role with significant architectural ownership and long-term product impact.

Key Missions

• Posséder et faire évoluer l’architecture Android et les fondations orientées mobile qui façonnent la qualité du produit.
• Directly design the Android system in a practical way, turning complex problems into durable production architecture.
• Improve reliability and delivery confidence by shaping how Android work is designed, reviewed, tested, shipped, and operated.
• Define clear mobile-facing system contracts and collaborate across teams to evolve Android architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead Android system design and set technical standards for a platform/product area.
• Build and influence engineering systems that improve validation, product quality, and delivery confidence.
• Shape platform contracts, API behavior, and backend service boundaries to improve outcomes across native clients.
• Make targeted contributions to backend systems when needed to unblock mobile-facing outcomes.
• Bring deep Android platform principles while contributing enough iOS fluency to guide cross-functional architecture decisions.
• Mentor and raise the bar for engineers by converting complex system work into reusable patterns and clearer standards.
• Drive reliability/release-quality judgment across production mobile systems.
• Help shape mobile design-system foundations and design-to-code workflows to improve consistency, accessibility, velocity, and support AI-assisted UI generation.

Requirements

• Proven experience building Android product experiences across varied device/form-factor contexts (e.g., foldables, wearables, Android Auto, or other native surfaces).
• Deep expertise in modern production Android architecture and a track record of setting technical standards.
• Experience shaping AI-enabled engineering systems for better validation and delivery confidence.
• Experience defining mobile-facing platform contracts (APIs and backend boundaries) that improve product quality.
• Ability to read/debug backend systems and make targeted changes when needed.
• Experience in enterprise mobile environments involving identity/device management/compliance/security, including MDM/EMM.
• Strong product judgment and communication: connect technical decisions to customer outcomes and align teams around durable decisions.
