About the role
Role Overview
Join Twilio as a Staff Analytics Engineer (R&D) within the Data Science & Analytics team. You’ll improve the consistency and quality of the R&D analytics data layer and help accelerate analyst development velocity by enabling trusted, data-backed reporting on R&D metrics.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a formal analytics data layer using AWS Glue, Presto, and LookML
- Partner with Data Science & Analytics and Product & Engineering to define, document, and maintain metric alignment and data lineage
- Build automated data reconciliation and quality checks to detect and resolve discrepancies in critical reports/dashboards
- Investigate complex data anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Mentor and guide team members and establish best practices for data modeling, testing, documentation, and code review
Requirements
- 6+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or related work (ideally B2B SaaS)
- Advanced SQL; hands-on data modeling and data pipeline orchestration using AWS Glue (or similar)
- Proven ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to codify, document, and reconcile business metrics for company-wide alignment
- Track record of owning ambiguous projects end-to-end with minimal guidance
- Strong technical communication and mentorship skills
Nice-to-haves / Desired
- Intermediate Python experience
- Distributed computing technologies such as Hive, Presto, and Spark
- Dashboarding tools like Looker or Tableau
- Experience implementing data quality/testing frameworks, including dbt tests, CI/CD, and data observability
- Experience helping drive a data culture and best practices in a fast-paced tech org
Location / Travel
- Remote, but not eligible for hire in: CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA
- Occasional travel for in-person team/project meetings
