About the role
Role overview
Amazon Devices central research team is seeking a Sr. User Researcher to understand how customers discover, learn about, and purchase Amazon Devices. You will translate customer insights into actionable recommendations that influence feature and program design across web and mobile.
Responsibilities
- Partner with UX Designers, Design Technologists, Product teams, and other Researchers to identify research opportunities and prioritize research questions.
- Convert research needs into learning plans and opportunity frameworks aligned with business strategy.
- Manage recurring user research programs and apply continuous improvement to raise quality and drive innovation.
- Own end-to-end user research studies:
- Study design
- Recruiting
- Moderation
- Analysis
- Reporting
- Communication
- Activation (driving research-informed change)
- Communicate insights clearly to stakeholders at different levels.
- Deliver measurable business impact through research-informed product direction changes.
- Support design and prototyping by working with UX Designers and Design Technologists.
Requirements (Basic Qualifications)
- 5+ years leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with a range of methods, including:
- Field research
- Ethnography
- Lab-based user testing
- Remote testing
- Paper prototype testing
- Iterative prototype testing
- Concept testing
- Survey design
- Bachelor’s degree in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or related.
- Experience across all research phases: study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting.
- Strong skills in behavioral data collection, quantitative data analysis, and statistics.
- Portfolio showing deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Factors, HCDE, Cognitive Psychology, or equivalent.
