Sr Software Engineer

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) for Prometric’s Product Development team. The role builds core backend services for a B2B SaaS platform, with an emphasis on services for AI-powered systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend REST services using Python and Django (and related technologies)
• Make decisions on database schemas, communication protocols, and transactional logic
• Deliver high-quality code using best practices (e.g., clean code, unit tests, CI/CD)
• Collaborate with stakeholders and frontend engineers on service requirements and functionality
• Own and lead projects to deliver new features
• Create proofs-of-concept and perform R&D to explore novel solutions
• Design cloud solutions spanning both infrastructure and application services
• Work with Tech Lead and ML Engineers to integrate AI technologies into business solutions
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs to ensure reliable operation in an agile environment

Requirements

• 10+ years experience as a Software Engineer (or similar), with strong emphasis on full-stack web development
• Deep Python engineering experience; able to mentor other engineers
• 5+ years with one or more Python service frameworks: Django, Flask, or FastAPI
• Experience building line-of-business / customer-facing applications, ideally B2B SaaS
• System design and solution engineering experience across infrastructure and application logic
• Knowledge of cloud deployments on AWS including S3, ECS/EKS, RDS, and Lambda
• Familiarity with DevOps practices such as GitHub Actions and Infrastructure-as-Code
• Strong troubleshooting/diagnostic skills and communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and stay current with industry trends

• Experience integrating AI technologies into applications (desirable but optional)
