Role Overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance APIs and distributed systems in a modern cloud environment.

Contract Details

• Title: Sr. Software Engineer
• Location: 100% Remote
• Start date: ASAP
• Duration: 6 months (potential extension)
• Compensation: $50–$55/hr (W2) plus benefits (Medical, dental, vision, 401k)
• Visa sponsorship: Not eligible

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-performance APIs using GraphQL and REST
• Design secure, scalable backend services with modern architectures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on API integrations and federation
• Build GraphQL subgraphs and manage schema composition using Apollo
• Manage and optimize data layers across PostgreSQL and data warehouse systems
• Deploy and operate services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Implement observability (logging, metrics, distributed tracing)
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and support reliable zero-downtime deployments

Requirements

Must Have

• Strong proficiency in Golang
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Node.js)
• Experience building APIs with GraphQL (Apollo) and REST
• Hands-on experience with ORMs: GORM, Prisma, or TypeORM
• Relational database + data modeling with PostgreSQL
• Cloud experience with AWS/GCP/Azure (serverless and containerized environments)
• Security protocol knowledge: JWT, OIDC, RBAC
• CI/CD experience; Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/CDK
• Strong observability knowledge (logging/monitoring/tracing)

Nice to Have

• GraphQL federation and Apollo Router
• Event-driven systems (e.g., SQS, EventBridge)
• Integrations with data warehouses such as Snowflake
• Distributed systems design and performance optimization
