Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer I (Frontend - React)

As a senior team member at Tandem, you will design, document, develop, and test a modern web application using best practices and established design patterns. You will work independently to identify software improvements and contribute to testing and validation of software products.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, modify, and test software units following corporate software process documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve software processes; propose and implement solutions to address gaps
• Use AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to develop modern, maintainable code
• Produce software design specifications, interface descriptions, and other engineering documentation
• Translate high-level requirements into software design and implementation
• Develop, execute, and verify unit and integration tests with the Software Test team
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure quality
• Perform regular code reviews and provide feedback to peers and junior engineers
• Train, mentor, and support junior team members
• Diagnose, replicate, and resolve build and deployment issues (and instruct others as needed)
• Create proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate new technologies or development patterns
• Potentially serve as a Tandem Software Development representative with external entities (e.g., clinical research organizations)

Requirements

• Proficient with formal software test methodologies, especially TDD
• Expert knowledge of React
• Experience writing well-tested, modularized TypeScript
• Proficient with Docker containers for development support and deployment
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, specifically Azure and/or AWS
• Ability to translate high-level requirements into software design and implementation
• Strong independence and ability to deliver high-quality work without close supervision
• Ability to articulate work assignments and direct more junior engineers
• Ability to communicate work outcomes and lead group discussions
• Ability to present and consolidate information to persuade others with evidence
• Ability to treat change as an opportunity to improve business performance
• Knowledge of REST API contract design

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/computer science or equivalent experience

Location / Work Setup

• Fully remote within the United States
• Equipment provided; training conducted virtually
