About the role

Role Overview

Humana Wellness IT is seeking a Sr Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver production-grade software solutions for complex business needs. The role is highly hands-on and requires strong understanding of application/system architecture, distributed systems, and API-driven architectures.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade applications
Build responsive, maintainable UIs using Vue.js (or similar modern frameworks)
Design and integrate APIs: RESTful APIs and GraphQL
Develop cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
Implement event-driven/distributed systems, including Kafka-based messaging and streaming
Contribute to architecture decisions by evaluating trade-offs for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across application and infrastructure layers
Provide technical leadership via code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship
Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams; communicate clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
5+ years experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and/or supporting infrastructure
5+ years hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
Experience building modern front-end applications with Vue.js (or equivalent frameworks)
Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and operating cloud-based solutions on Microsoft Azure

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or related technical field)
Microsoft Azure cloud certifications (advanced knowledge of cloud architecture/development/operations)
Working knowledge of Kafka or similar distributed messaging/event-streaming platforms
Experience with Agile development environments, including Scrum or Kanban, with iterative delivery and continuous improvement

Location / Work-Style

Must have presence/physical residence in or within commuting distance of one of the following market locations: Louisville, KY; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Fort Lauderdale/Tampa, FL; or Nashville, TN.
