About the role

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer on a lean, high-impact, equity-based team. Own features end-to-end across a full-stack platform (Django + React/Tailwind) and integrate AI tooling to accelerate development and enable new product capabilities.

Responsibilities

Own features end-to-end: architect, build, test, and ship across Django (backend) and React/Tailwind (frontend)
Inherit and improve existing code: audit, refactor, and enhance areas you didn’t originally write
Integrate AI tools and APIs to improve platform intelligence and developer productivity
Debug cross-stack issues quickly and methodically, including under tight deadlines
Translate product challenges into technical solutions
Mentor junior engineers: code reviews, pair programming, and raising team standards
Stabilize and rework critical paths when fast action is needed
Collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team to maintain momentum

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering with full-stack responsibilities
Strong Python + Django (models, views, REST APIs, ORM)
Strong React plus modern JavaScript/TypeScript
Hands-on Tailwind CSS for responsive, utility-first UI
Experience using AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) and/or custom LLM integrations
Proven ability to navigate and improve large/legacy codebases without full context upfront
Comfortable with Git, CI/CD, and modern deployment workflows
Experience with cloud deployments/infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, or DigitalOcean)
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration
Experience customizing/extending Stripe billing (subscriptions, invoicing, webhooks, metered usage)
Detail-oriented, clean and well-documented code
Self-directed and reliable; can commit consistently 20+ hours/week

Nice to Have

WebSockets, real-time features, or event-driven architectures
Startup/early-stage experience (multi-hat environment)
Product analytics, A/B testing, or growth engineering exposure
Open-source contributions or public technical portfolio

Schedule & Work Style

Minimum commitment: 20 hours/week
Flexible schedule: evenings and weekends okay
Remote-friendly, async-first communication
