Sr. Software Engineer - Azure

Role Overview

Sr. Software Engineer (Azure) working on energy applications and cloud-native software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop & maintain software for energy applications using cloud-native services.
• Design scalable, maintainable systems following software design principles and best practices.
• Apply energy domain expertise (e.g., distributed energy resources, renewable energy) to deliver domain-specific solutions.
• Build Azure cloud-native applications using Azure services to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Maintain high code quality via code reviews, automated testing, and coding standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java and Python (ability to adapt to other languages as needed).
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Deep understanding of software design principles/patterns and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and API-first development.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and communication/collaboration skills.
• Up to 20% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced expertise integrating Java/Python with Azure services.
• Experience with energy systems (renewables, energy grids, DER management).
• Experience integrating high-scale IoT and edge computing with cloud services.

Location & Work Arrangement

• Remote, but expected to relocate (at own expense) to onsite Houston location by Q1 2027 (approximate timeframe subject to change).
