Sr Security Engineer (Senior Cybersecurity Engineer)

You will enhance Westmoreland Mining’s cybersecurity posture by leading security strategy, architecture, incident response, testing, and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Cybersecurity Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies for critical systems; collaborate cross-functionally to integrate security across the organization.
• Security Architecture & Design: Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable security architectures; perform risk assessments and recommend mitigations.
• Incident Response: Lead incident response investigations and remediation; develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures.
• Security Testing & Assessment: Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation.
• Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI and others); lead and support internal/external audits.
• Security Awareness & Training: Create and deliver employee security training; monitor industry trends and emerging threats.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Work with IT, management, and stakeholders; mentor junior cybersecurity staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience focused on engineering, architecture, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in cybersecurity technologies, tools, and methodologies.

Preferred / Certifications

• Examples include: SSCP, CISSP, CCSP, CGRC, CEH, CompTIA Sec+, CompTIA CySA+, CompTIA PenTest+.

Skills / Technical Expertise

• Cybersecurity engineering and implementing security solutions.
• Enterprise Windows: Windows Server, Active Directory, system hardening, security administration.
• Firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention.
• Encryption and secure network communication.
• SIEM experience.

Location / Remote Policy

• Remote role, with a preference for Lone Tree, Colorado or Billings, Montana.
• Must reside within 2 hours of a corporate office for occasional on-site meetings/support.

Compensation & Benefits

• $116,000–$132,000 annually plus eligibility for an annual Short Term Incentive.
