About the role

Role Overview

Sr Scrum Master (Servant Leader) helping teams follow Scrum and Agile best practices. You will coach multiple teams, partner with stakeholders to align priorities, and support product delivery by ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective Agile execution.

Responsibilities

  • Coach teams and stakeholders on Scrum framework subtleties, Agile principles, and values.
  • Partner with Product Owners to build/maintain product roadmap and release plans based on priorities and team input.
  • Lead multiple product teams or large initiatives, monitoring progress across products and removing obstacles to on-time delivery.
  • Drive end-to-end product lifecycle activities (initiation, planning, executing/controlling, closing) for high-visibility, long-term products with major business impact.
  • Foster self-organization and cross-team collaboration; enable teams to make decisions and remove decision barriers.
  • Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Identify and improve processes by analyzing current and new product management processes; establish efficient ways of working.
  • Provide leadership to product managers to establish plans and objectives that support on-time and on-budget outcomes.
  • Track progress and communicate changes in strategy/priorities; report status and metrics to senior executives.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal customers to understand business needs; work in a matrixed environment to achieve shared goals.
  • Strengthen Thrivent’s Agile Center of Excellence, contribute to Agile/Product community, and keep broader networks informed.
  • Model leadership competencies (courage, collaboration, commitment) and support a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a technical-related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4–6 years in a lead role on projects, Scrum teams, and/or business lead initiatives.
  • At least 3 years as a Scrum Master or related experience.
  • Understanding of iterative development and software development fundamentals.

Nice to Have (inferred from context)

  • Experience coaching multiple teams and large initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate metrics to senior executives and support Agile transformation as an Agile CoE leader.
