Sr. Scrum Master/Project Manager

Role Overview

Sr. Scrum Master / Project Manager will set and enforce the organization-wide standard for Agile practices across the engineering organization. The role guides Agile ceremonies and delivery discipline, coaches a cohort of Scrum Masters, and acts as Scrum Master for a subset of teams.

Responsibilities

• Agile Program Leadership & Coaching

  • Define and enforce Agile ceremony standards and operating model across 12 teams.
  • Coach and provide performance support to 6–7 Scrum Masters.
  • Maintain consistency for definitions of ready/done, estimation, cadences, and escalation paths.
  • Remove cross-team delivery impediments and run a Scrum Master community of practice.

• Direct Scrum Mastery

  • Act as Scrum Master for 2 assigned teams, covering ceremonies, backlog hygiene, and impediment removal.

• Agile Development Metrics & Quality Accountability Framework

  • Own and evolve a metrics/quality framework covering sprint execution, code review discipline, and defect accountability from first commit to production.
  • Use Jira and GitHub as systems of record.
  • Implement and maintain delivery metrics in Jira, including:
    • Velocity, sprint predictability, cycle time/lead time, throughput, WIP
    • Scope creep, carryover rate
  • Implement code review rigor metrics from GitHub PR activity, including:
    • Change-requested rate, rework commits per PR, review cycles to approval
    • Time in review, senior reviewer comment density
    • Partner to maintain branch protection and senior-reviewer definitions
  • Own Jira bug taxonomy and defect metrics, including phase containment and escape rates.
  • Maintain defect attribution from escaped bugs back to originating work (stories/tasks, PRs, authors/reviewers).
  • Run recurring per-release and quarterly accountability rollups and review trend lines with teams/leads.

Requirements

• Strong experience leading Agile ceremonies/operating models across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability to coach Scrum Masters and build consistent Scrum practices.
• Deep hands-on proficiency with Jira and GitHub for delivery, quality, and accountability metrics.
• Ability to manage defect taxonomy, tracking, and quality measurement end-to-end.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience implementing scaled Agile connections between Product roadmap intent and sprint execution.
• Experience with engineering quality processes such as code review rigor and branch protection governance.
