Sr. Product Manager, Walrus (Distributed Storage)

Role Overview

As a Senior Product Manager for Walrus (Distributed Storage) at Mysten Labs, you will own the core data platform and its main product surfaces, including Walrus Sites and related products built on top of Walrus. The role sits at the intersection of storage, data delivery, and developer experience, shaping how developers store, serve, and manage data in production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve product strategy and roadmap for Walrus and key surfaces (including Walrus Sites)
• Partner with engineering to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency across storage and data delivery workflows
• Define and ship developer-facing abstractions and experiences, such as:
  • Blob management primitives
  • APIs, SDKs, tooling
  • Documentation
• Collaborate with the GTM team on ecosystem positioning and messaging
• Support internal teams building on Walrus and external partners adopting it in production
• Incorporate partner/ecosystem/operator feedback into product priorities and tradeoffs
• Operate with autonomy: make tradeoffs and guide the platform from early adoption to maturity

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a Product Manager, with ownership of technical platform or infrastructure products used by developers or operators
• Ability to own ambiguous, technical problems end-to-end (problem framing → discovery → execution → launch → iteration)
• Strong technical fluency and comfort partnering with engineers on APIs, data flows, performance tradeoffs, and system design
• Experience leading multi-quarter initiatives across engineering, design, docs, developer relations, and external partners; strong prioritization and tradeoff decisions
• Good product judgment balancing developer experience, system constraints, scalability, and long-term platform direction
• Clear communication skills translating complex systems into aligned goals, narratives, and decisions

Nice to Have

• Experience shaping/scaling ecosystems (external builders, partners, foundations, community contributors)
• Exposure to content/media/AI/data monetization use cases (datasets, marketplaces, gated access)
• Familiarity with security, privacy, and data governance concepts in production systems
• Hands-on or product-level involvement with open-source or protocol-driven development environments
