Role Overview

Senior Node.js Developer (10+ years)

Remote, Full-time. You will build high-performance, scalable backend applications using Node.js, designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and real-time services that support core business operations.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable APIs and microservices-based architectures.
• Design and develop secure, reliable custom software to improve end-user experience.
• Lead development teams by selecting tools, APIs, design patterns, and best practices.
• Apply domain-driven design (DDD) to create modular, flexible systems.
• Use JavaScript across frontend and backend components as needed.
• Apply software design principles and UML to produce maintainable, scalable code.
• Provide architecture assessments, strategies, and technology roadmaps for one or more domains.
• Define processes for data integration and exchange models between on-prem and cloud systems, including security, traceability, audit, performance, and risk.
• Collaborate with delivery and cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test, and release features.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop and maintain server-side network components.
• Ensure database performance and responsiveness to frontend requests.
• Collaborate with frontend developers on integration.
• Design customer-facing backend services and UI integration for business processes.
• Write testable, reusable, efficient code.
• Implement security protocols, data protection, and storage solutions.
• Run diagnostic tests, fix defects, and provide technical support.
• Document Node.js processes, database schemas, and prepare reports.
• Recommend and implement improvements to processes and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of IT development/testing, or high school diploma/GED plus 10+ years web application development.
• 10+ years in web application development with strong JavaScript framework focus.
• 5+ years programming Java/JavaScript and 3+ years with Node.js or comparable framework.
• Strong SOLID and object-oriented design pattern expertise.
• Detailed experience with microservices architecture and event-driven design.
• Security experience from a systems development perspective (e.g., OWASP, OAuth2).
• Integration technology experience (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, MuleSoft).
• Web development and service experience: HTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP, SQL, Java or Python, SOAP, REST.
• CI experience using Git and tooling such as Bitbucket Pipelines and Docker containers.

Desired / Nice-to-Haves

• 10+ years Node.js framework experience.
• Hands-on microservices architecture design and implementation.
• Ability to gather/analyze unclear business requirements and produce a test plan on time.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
