Sr. Manager, Restaurant Design

Role Overview

Zaxby’s Support Center is seeking a Sr. Manager, Restaurant Design to join the Design & Construction team. You will direct outsourced architects and consultants who produce construction documents for new builds and remodels of company and franchised restaurants, ensuring brand-aligned design quality and consistency with design objectives.

Responsibilities

• Direct outsourced architects/consultants producing construction documents for new and remodeled restaurants (company and franchise).
• Ensure construction documents meet design objectives, architectural quality standards, and Zaxby’s brand image.
• Review and approve site plans and site-adapted building plans for new and remodel projects.
• Provide creative insight to internal designers and architects for custom/unique site conditions and non-traditional projects.
• Develop unique design solutions for complex challenges in:
  • space planning
  • construction details
  • material selection
  • branded storefronts
• Communicate design solutions using industry-standard design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Use analytics/lessons learned/best practices to improve design standards.
• Build strategic and operational plans for the design team; manage execution and measure results.
• Track drawings from concept through opening.
• Manage prototype updates on a scheduled basis.
• Ensure designs meet Zaxby’s, jurisdictional, and landlord criteria and comply with internal quality standards.
• Prepare, communicate, and educate project teams on policy/practice changes.
• Track architectural design changes and their impact on store development budgets.
• Communicate with franchisees and manage approvals for development, new builds, and remodels.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex issues and implement strategies to solve problems.
• Familiarity with construction bidding and budgeting practices.
• Experience in branded design and restaurant or multi-unit retail.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop (at least “a plus”).
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships across organizational levels and with industry professionals.

Work Location / Schedule

• Ideally based in the Atlanta, GA area.
• Fully remote or hybrid option allowing 3 in-office days per week depending on location.
