About the role
Role Overview
Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture will define and enforce enterprise architecture standards, governance processes, and modernization strategies across Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). The role bridges business strategy, technology execution, and risk management to transition from legacy systems to a modern, cloud-first, data-driven environment—using Microsoft Azure as a key platform.
Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Development (30%)
- Design and govern Mazda’s enterprise technology blueprint, including architecture standards, reusable patterns, and governance processes.
- Institutionalize enterprise-architecture practices such as:
- decision-rights models
- architecture maturity metrics
- standard review cadences (through the CX CoE)
- Define and maintain capability models and reference architectures across business and IT portfolios.
- Define, maintain, and communicate the enterprise architecture vision and multi-year roadmaps across business, data, application, and technology domains.
- Align architectural initiatives with strategic objectives and CIO priorities to deliver measurable business value.
- Lead enterprise architecture review boards, establish decision-making frameworks, and drive modernization toward a secure hybrid-cloud environment.
- Work with global counterparts (manufacturing, sales, aftersales) to align strategies.
Connected Vehicle & Data Strategy (25%)
- Define and govern the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) reference architecture, including:
- OTA lifecycle
- in-vehicle software updates
- telemetry ingestion
- API management
- Collaborate with R&D and data teams to enable predictive maintenance, personalization, and monetization use cases.
- Architect secure, scalable data pipelines for real-time insights and connected customer/dealer experiences.
- Define enterprise data and integration frameworks for SDV/EA initiatives covering:
- software lifecycle management
- cloud-to-car integration
- cybersecurity
- data governance, interoperability, and lineage across vehicle, cloud, and enterprise systems
- Architect and optimize modern mobile car app platforms to support connected features, services, subscriptions, and new revenue.
- Partner with R&D, data science, and external ecosystems to unlock commercial value of connected-vehicle and customer lifecycle data.
Cloud & Digital Manufacturing Enablement (20%)
- Lead design and governance of Mazda’s Azure enterprise platform, including landing zones, identity management, networking, data-lakehouse integration, and cost optimization.
- Implement Microsoft CAF guardrails and DevSecOps standards across Azure workloads.
- Define hybrid/edge patterns to connect factory, vehicle, and enterprise data.
- Where possible, architect IT/OT convergence frameworks that securely connect operational and enterprise environments.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Strong experience leading enterprise architecture governance, standards, and roadmap development.
- Expertise in cloud-first modernization, hybrid-cloud patterns, and secure architecture practices.
- Deep knowledge of connected vehicle architecture concepts (e.g., SDV, OTA lifecycle, telemetry, API management).
- Experience designing scalable data pipelines and integration frameworks with data governance, interoperability, and lineage.
- Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Azure (including enterprise platform governance and CAF/DevSecOps standards).
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience aligning architecture across the full vehicle lifecycle (R&D, manufacturing, sales, service, customer experience).
- Experience supporting mobile app car platform architectures and monetization-oriented connected services.
