Role Overview

Sr. Developer, Flutter — act as an innovation engineer rather than a traditional feature implementer. You’ll turn ambiguous ideas into validated, high-impact mobile solutions, balancing rapid experimentation with long-term platform stability and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Discovery, Framing & Experimentation
  • Partner with product, build, data, and business teams to frame problems and define hypotheses.
  • Translate loosely defined ideas into experiments, feasibility studies, and technical prototypes.
  • Lead or contribute to discovery sprints, feasibility work, and technical spikes.
  • Challenge assumptions and propose alternative mobile experiences/architectures.
• Prototyping & Validation
  • Build rapid throwaway and evolutionary prototypes to validate user value and technical feasibility.
  • Instrument prototypes with analytics to measure adoption and performance.
  • Run controlled experiments when appropriate (e.g., feature flags, pilots, A/B tests).
  • Make tradeoffs across speed, quality, scalability, and learning outcomes.
• Mobile Architecture & Platform Thinking
  • Design and build native and cross-platform mobile solutions with ecosystem and platform considerations.
  • Influence architecture decisions, frameworks/SDKs, and integration patterns.
  • Collaborate on API contracts, data models, and service boundaries.
• Engineering Excellence
  • Write clean, maintainable mobile code aligned with platform guidelines.
  • Deliver secure, performant, and accessible user experiences.
  • Optimize for memory, battery, startup time, and responsiveness.
  • Apply mobile security practices (e.g., authentication, encryption, data protection).
• Teamwork & Influence
  • Collaborate with UX, backend, data, and product teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Provide technical mentorship and architectural guidance to mobile engineers.
  • Communicate technical ideas effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Operational Enablement
  • Advise on mobile DevOps practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and release strategies.
  • Document architecture, experiments, findings, and key technical decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional mobile development experience.
• 4+ years of Flutter experience.
• Experience across both:
  • Exploration (early-stage) and
  • Exploitation (scaled delivery)
• Native iOS and/or Android experience:
  • Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
• Cross-platform framework experience (Flutter, React Native, or similar).
• Mobile architecture/design patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVC, Clean Architecture).
• Experience with API integration, mobile networking, and data synchronization.
• Strong lifecycle, memory management, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
• Ability to operate effectively with incomplete or evolving requirements.
• Strong problem-framing and systems thinking.

Nice-to-Haves

• Proven experience working across multiple projects and diverse technology stacks.
• Prior experience using feature flags and running A/B tests or controlled pilots.
