Sr Cloud Infrastructure Architect - REMOTE from any EST or CST US-based location

Role Overview

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Sr. Cloud Infrastructure Architect to independently define and drive cloud architecture strategy and implementation roadmaps. You will design and govern enterprise cloud platforms with an emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), standardized patterns, and operational excellence across Azure and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design & governance: Design, govern, and evolve enterprise cloud platforms and foundational services (cloud networking, identity, and IaC, e.g., Terraform), using version-controlled CI/CD and automation.
• Architecture roadmaps & standards: Build and enforce cloud architecture roadmaps, standards, and governance frameworks to modernize legacy infrastructure into cloud-native environments.
• Platform architecture: Architect and oversee core platform services such as landing zones, subscription/account structures, IAM, DNS, and hybrid connectivity.
• Networking architectures: Partner to design and govern hub-and-spoke networking, transit networks, routing strategies, VPN connectivity, and firewall integration across multiple regions.
• Solution alignment: Collaborate with engineering and application teams to define/review cloud solution architectures aligned to standards, security, and scalability requirements.
• Vendor & managed services: Work with 3rd-party vendors and Managed Services to develop and implement technology-enabled roadmaps.
• Technology recommendations: Identify and recommend cloud technologies and capabilities based on business needs, scalability, and cost.
• Operational excellence: Establish monitoring/alerting, cost optimization, and platform lifecycle management practices.
• Resiliency & DR: Define disaster recovery and resiliency strategies (multi-region patterns and high availability).
• Cloud financial management: Govern capacity planning, cost allocation, chargeback/showback, reserved instance strategies, and consumption optimization.
• Documentation & enablement: Document architecture designs, standards, and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.
• Secure-by-design: Partner with Security Architecture/Engineering to establish secure cloud patterns.

Requirements

• Strong ability to independently define cloud architecture strategy and drive implementation roadmaps.
• Experience designing and governing enterprise cloud platforms across Azure and AWS.
• Deep focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation with version-controlled CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in cloud networking architectures and governance across multiple regions.
• Ability to lead initiatives around modernization, governance enforcement, and consistent policy-driven cloud delivery.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud landing zones and enterprise identity/IAM patterns.
• Strong operational excellence background (monitoring, alerting, cost optimization, lifecycle management).
• Proven resiliency/DR design experience (multi-region and high availability).
