Sr Cloud Infrastructure Architect - REMOTE from any EST or CST US-based location

Role Overview

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to independently define and drive cloud architecture strategy and implementation roadmaps. The role focuses on designing and evolving secure, scalable, highly automated enterprise cloud environments across Azure and AWS, with strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, govern, and evolve enterprise cloud platforms and foundational services, including:
  • cloud networking and identity
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
  • version-controlled CI/CD pipelines and automation for standardized delivery
• Develop and enforce cloud architecture roadmaps, standards, and governance frameworks to modernize legacy systems into automated, scalable cloud-native environments.
• Architect and oversee enterprise platform services such as:
  • landing zones
  • subscription/account structure
  • IAM
  • DNS
  • hybrid connectivity
• Collaborate with peer architects/technology leaders to align enterprise architecture domains and shared platform capabilities.
• Define and govern cloud networking architectures across multiple regions, including:
  • hub-and-spoke topology
  • transit networks
  • routing strategies
  • VPN connectivity
  • firewall integration
• Work with engineering and application teams to define/review solution architectures for alignment with standards, scalability needs, and security policies.
• Partner with 3rd-party vendors and Managed Services to develop and implement technology-enabled roadmaps.
• Identify and recommend cloud/platform capabilities based on business requirements, scalability, and cost.
• Drive operational excellence:
  • monitoring/alerting
  • cost optimization
  • platform lifecycle management for reliability and performance
• Define and govern disaster recovery and resiliency strategies (multi-region and high availability patterns).
• Define cloud financial management practices:
  • capacity planning
  • cost allocation and chargeback/showback models
  • reserved instance strategies
  • cloud consumption optimization
• Document architecture standards and processes for maintainability and knowledge transfer.
• Partner with security teams to establish secure-by-design cloud patterns (including network segmentation and related controls).
