Sr. Cloud Architect

Role Overview

As Sr. Cloud Architect, you will establish and maintain NASCO’s AWS cloud environment to support secure, scalable, resilient SaaS product architectures. You will lead cloud architectural direction, drive governance aligned to AWS best practices, and translate complex requirements into actionable designs across engineering, product, security, and cloud operations.

Responsibilities

• Guide the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native, elastic, resilient SaaS solutions on AWS
• Architect secure, scalable, performant serverless SaaS solutions with high availability
• Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, including reference architectures and reusable design patterns (primarily on AWS)
• Create and maintain architectural blueprints for infrastructure, applications, and data flows
• Establish and enforce cloud governance (usage guardrails, design principles)
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulatory/security frameworks
• Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation for provisioning and operations
• Improve delivery efficiency by adopting optimized CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Enforce cloud security best practices: IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and secure SaaS design
• Lead cloud observability strategy and optimize AWS for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Mentor architects and engineers and lead governance reviews
• Partner with product management, engineering, cloud operations, architecture, and security teams to align cloud implementation with enterprise goals

Requirements

• 10+ years in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or solution architecture
• Deep expertise in AWS across compute, storage, networking, integrations, and serverless design
• Strong cloud-native design patterns including microservices and event-driven architectures
• Advanced knowledge of cloud security (IAM, encryption, secure design) and compliance frameworks
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform
• Experience with observability tools: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex cloud issues
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Demonstrated leadership and experience mentoring technical teams
• Ability to operate across multiple projects in a fast-paced SaaS environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks and/or NIST
• Experience integrating AI/ML on AWS (including Bedrock)
• Ability to perform and forecast cost–benefit/ROI for cloud solutions
• Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework for SaaS design reviews
• Experience with FinOps and forecasting cloud compute costs

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• AWS Solutions Architect – Professional (or similar)
