Sr. Cloud Architect

Role Overview

Senior Cloud Architect for NASCO’s AWS SaaS architecture. You will establish and maintain the AWS cloud environment, lead cloud architectural direction, and ensure security, scalability, reliability, and cost-efficient designs aligned to AWS best practices.

Responsibilities

• Guide the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native, elastic, resilient SaaS products on AWS
• Architect secure, scalable, performant serverless SaaS solutions with high availability
• Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns (primarily AWS)
• Create and maintain architectural blueprints for infrastructure, applications, and data flows
• Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks, usage guardrails, and design principles
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulatory/security frameworks
• Promote Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation for provisioning, configuration, and operations
• Improve deployment automation using optimized CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Enforce cloud security best practices (IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and secure SaaS design)
• Develop and guide cloud observability strategies and optimize AWS for performance, reliability, and cost
• Mentor architects/engineers and lead governance reviews for scalable, secure, financially responsible designs
• Partner with product management, engineering, cloud operations, architecture, and security teams to align cloud implementation with enterprise goals

Requirements

• 10 years of experience in cloud architecture/engineering/solution architecture
• Deep AWS architecture expertise across compute, storage, networking, integration, and serverless design
• Proficiency in cloud-native patterns, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Advanced cloud security knowledge (IAM, encryption, secure design) and compliance frameworks
• Strong experience with IaC (CloudFormation or Terraform)
• DevOps experience including CI/CD
• Observability experience with CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills in complex cloud environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks or NIST
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities on AWS (including Bedrock)
• Ability to perform cost–benefit/ROI analysis and support FinOps/cost forecasting
• Experience applying the AWS Well-Architected Framework to SaaS design reviews
