Overview
Remote opportunity with a requirement that candidates be local to the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. The role supports a growing Portland-area manufacturing company following acquisition of a new manufacturing facility and creation of a new accounting position.
Responsibilities
- Own the full standalone monthly/quarterly close for a new manufacturing entity, including:
- Inventory accounting
- COGS
- Standard costing and variance analysis
- Fixed assets
- Drive intercompany consolidation and eliminations, including building and maintaining elimination entries across the entity structure and ensuring balances tie out each period.
- Support monthly consolidated GAAP financial statements used for lender reporting, partnering closely with the Controller on treatment and review.
- Lead financial reporting preparation and variance analysis:
- Budget-to-actual
- Month-over-month comparisons
- Provide commentary on key drivers to the Controller
- Complete GL reconciliations for the manufacturing entity, ensuring balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported each period.
- Apply percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting for contract manufacturing arrangements to ensure revenue and cost recognition align with GAAP.
- Design and document the close calendar, elimination templates, and reconciliation processes for a consolidation function being built from scratch.
- Implement new financial reporting tools, including:
- A tool for intercompany eliminations
- A fixed asset management system
- Partner with the Controller on process decisions as the company scales its entity structure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity or consolidation work.
- Advanced Excel skills (required).
- Strong GAAP understanding, especially for intercompany transactions and consolidation.
- Manufacturing/cost accounting exposure preferred; percentage-of-completion experience is a plus.
- Ability to operate effectively in early-stage, still-developing processes.
- Collaborative mindset; willingness to learn and contribute ideas.
- CPA preferred but not required.
Location / Work Setup
- Remote, but must be local to the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area; occasional team meetups.
