About the role

Role Overview

Join Canvas Medical as a Solutions Engineer on the engineering team. You will act as a technical bridge between customer needs and the Canvas platform capabilities, architecting and implementing custom solutions, integrations, and platform improvements.

Key Missions

Architect & implement custom solutions using the Canvas SDK
Build reusable plugins and integrations to extend platform capabilities
Collaborate with Solutions Consultants to prototype rapidly, validate technical approaches, and deliver production-ready solutions
Identify SDK capability gaps and improve the platform via pull requests and feature development

Requirements

2+ years professional software development experience with modern web stacks
Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)
Experience with API design, event-driven architectures, and plugin-based systems
Strong problem-solving and ability to navigate ambiguous technical challenges
Knowledge of software design patterns, testing practices, and code maintainability
Understanding of healthcare system complexity and criticality
Familiarity with healthcare data standards: FHIR and HL7 (or willingness to learn quickly)
Ability to translate clinical requirements into technical architecture decisions

Nice-to-Haves

Interest in healthcare technology and automation of clinical workflows
Experience building/maintaining SDKs, developer tools, or platform products
Background in healthcare IT, EMR integrations, or clinical systems
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FDA guidelines)
Experience with Python for backend services or data processing
Prior customer-facing engineering / solutions architecture experience
Contributions to open source or technical community engagement
