About the role

Role Overview

Pulumi is looking for a Solutions Architect to help guide customers in adopting Pulumi’s infrastructure-as-code platform. You’ll partner with Sales on technical pre-sales to demonstrate value, lead technical discovery, and help close complex opportunities through trusted architecture and product expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Sales team to articulate Pulumi’s value, vision, and strategy to customers.
  • Own technical pre-sales engagements, including:
    • Technical discovery
    • Demos
    • Proof-of-concepts (PoCs)
    • Ensuring a technical win
  • Technically close complex deals using advanced competitive knowledge and credibility.
  • Serve as a technical partner to cloud and platform engineering teams:
    • Guide architectural decisions
    • Share best practices
  • Deliver product and technical presentations at customer meetings and Pulumi events.
  • Act as a customer advocate by closing the loop between customers, product, and engineering:
    • Champion the product
    • Bring customer requirements to the roadmap

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or Technical Consulting).
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java.
  • Deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure and application modernization, including public and/or private cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, including Pulumi and/or Terraform and AWS CDK.
  • Demonstrated software development experience and best practices.
  • Experience leading technical customer engagements (scoping, expectation setting, delivery).
  • Experience with solution selling methodologies such as MEDDPICC, SPIN, and/or Challenger Sales.
  • Ability to build relationships with both technical stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity with ownership and outcome-driven execution.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
  • Public cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Remote-first company (fully remote since 2020).
  • Role is remote in the San Francisco, CA area.
