About the role
Role Overview
Solutions Architect / Solution Engineer (Architect, High-Level) for a remote team supporting a global health organization. This is a 12-month consulting contract with potential for permanent placement. The role is focused on identifying and designing solutions—not hands-on development.
Responsibilities
- Design and identify technical solutions using Hortonworks platform expertise.
- Collaborate with development teams to articulate solution requirements, frameworks, and architecture.
- Create comprehensive documentation and stakeholder presentations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of big data architecture and best practices.
- Support implementation of Hadoop distributions and related solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience.
- Strong programming background (though not hands-on development).
- Proven experience with Hortonworks HDP 2.6 through at least 3.0 (current environment: HDP 3.1).
- Strong big data experience and solution architecture background.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills using PowerPoint and/or Visio.
- Exceptional communication skills to explain technical concepts to the dev team.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience spanning multiple Hadoop distributions and data system solution design experience.
