Solutions Architect

Role overview

As a Solutions Architect, you will lead cloud modernization and architecture efforts for enterprise and customer initiatives on the AWS platform. You’ll work with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, shape the technology approach, and guide scalable, reliable solution design.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions with business and technical experts to understand needs, solicit requirements, and document them
• Consult and advise engineers, architects, and executives to select appropriate technology stacks for business problems
• Create SOWs and provide structured background for engineering teams
• Design and articulate highly scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions leveraging AWS
• Evaluate implementation trade-offs and guide decision-making and recommended courses of action
• Establish patterns and help align technical roadmaps and strategic vision to requirements
• Build trusted-advisor relationships with stakeholders from technical experts to senior executives
• Accelerate innovation by identifying high-impact, repeatable solutions and representing ClearScale’s capabilities to customers and the community
• Author technical publications (e.g., blog posts, case studies, ebooks)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/scientific field or 5+ years designing and developing services/applications
• 8+ years of experience building enterprise software solutions
• 5+ years consulting experience (or comparable experience supporting internal customers in a product company)
• Understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Lean, and waterfall)
• 4+ years hands-on experience with AWS
• Experience designing modern cloud applications using event-driven and NoSQL technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, Kafka, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, ActiveMQ, SQS, EventBridge, Redis/Memcached)
• Experience with containerized environments and/or serverless applications and relevant architecture patterns
• Ability to design fault-tolerant, no-downtime distributed systems
• Comfort learning and adapting to new technologies
• Strong communication skills (listening, written, and oral) and ability to lead in high-visibility customer settings

Nice-to-haves

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification (or ability to acquire within 3 months)
• Experience migrating enterprise workloads to AWS
• Experience working with secured data (e.g., PHI, classified data)
• Deep understanding of column, key-value, document, or graph databases
• Experience giving public technical presentations
