About the role

Role Overview

Software Test Engineer (Contract Role) joining the Software QA team. You will design, implement, and maintain test frameworks for the back-end services powering OptionMetrics’ data and analytics products.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain robust test frameworks for back-end services
Identify and diagnose issues proactively; isolate and troubleshoot defects
Write, document, and automate comprehensive test cases (including functional and regression testing)
Determine what to test, create tests, and implement them
Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, and Project teams to ensure quality from concept to release
Test and regress a high volume of daily changes
Research issues to maintain quality across large data sets
Develop understanding of the math related to options

Requirements

Experience with Java, SQL, and Python
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong skills in test case design and creating test plans/descriptions
Commitment to technical QA throughout the development lifecycle
Comfortable working in a distributed/remote environment (team operates on Eastern Time) with strong communication and ownership
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred (or equivalent practical experience in QA/test automation for backend systems)

Nice to Have

Experience with AWS data tools: S3, Redshift, RDS, EMR

Remote/Time Zone

Fully remote contract position; collaboration across Engineering/Product/QA
Team operates on Eastern Time hours
