About the role

Role Overview

Software Quality Test Automation Engineer to support modernization of a Licensing Application in a cross-functional Agile environment. You will work with QA, development, and product teams, partnering with a Senior Test Automation Engineer to design and implement automated testing for both UI and API layers.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases for UI and APIs.
Implement, execute, and expand automated test cases and testing framework capabilities.
Build API automation using Cucumber with Karate and/or Rest Assured.
Interpret complex insurance business rules and regulatory requirements, translating them into automated test scenarios.
Write clean, maintainable automation code in Java and JavaScript.
Integrate and maintain automated tests within modern CI/CD pipelines.
Support integration, regression, and performance testing across the software lifecycle.
Analyze test results, identify defects, and log issues using Jira (or similar).
Participate in test strategy and quality-focused activities throughout the SDLC.

Requirements

5+ years in Software QA with significant test automation exposure.
Practical experience with BDD and the Cucumber framework.
Strong programming skills in Java (or another JVM language) and hands-on JavaScript.
Production experience with Git (or comparable version control).
Proficiency with IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
Solid understanding of REST APIs, web services, and microservices testing.
Experience handling XML and validating/testing web services.
Strong SQL skills for query writing and data validation.
Experience supporting Agile and cross-functional delivery teams.
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder required.

Nice to Have

Performance testing with JMeter and/or BlazeMeter.
Cloud experience, especially AWS.
Experience testing highly regulated/rules-based applications.
UI automation experience with Selenium or Playwright.
Ability to design scalable, maintainable automation solutions; strong requirement gathering and analytical/problem-solving skills.
