Software QA Engineer

Role Overview

The Software QA Engineer ensures the delivery of reliable, high-quality software that supports essential business and scientific goals. You’ll collaborate with software engineering and product teams to embed quality practices across development, using hands-on testing and scalable, risk-based QA in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test strategies for complex software systems
• Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and integration testing across web, backend, and platform components
• Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria from a QA perspective with product/engineering
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution with clear communication
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to improve quality outcomes
• Support software releases by validating readiness and assessing risk
• Apply risk-based testing and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Promote quality best practices and help evolve team standards, tools, and processes
• Communicate and maintain accountability in a distributed team environment

Requirements

• 5+ years of software QA/testing experience
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and QA methodologies
• Hands-on ability designing/executing test cases and documenting results
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools
• Familiarity with Agile and cross-functional collaboration
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Exposure to regulated environments such as GxP/GLP/GCP/CLIA/CAP and data integrity frameworks

Nice to Have

• Experience with LIMS and/or Salesforce
• Test automation frameworks / automated test suites
• Familiarity with CI/CD and continuous testing
• Experience testing cloud-based, data-driven, distributed systems
• Ability to identify quality-process gaps and suggest improvements
