Software Engineering (Senior Member of Technical Staff)

Role Overview

Join Salesforce as a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) to lead development of the next-generation Cybersecurity Data Platform. You will own both the architecture and hands-on implementation of a scalable, reliable platform for critical security data flows.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement the technical roadmap for the Security Data Platform, ensuring long-term scalability and security.
• Lead hands-on development of scalable, secure, reliable platform capabilities using:
  • Apache Spark
  • AWS S3
  • Streaming and batch pipelines
• Define and implement monitoring, alerting, and automated testing to ensure data integrity and platform reliability.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery: design → coding → testing → deployment → maintenance (DevOps mindset).
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data producers and consumers and influence architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development, with deep experience in SaaS/PaaS/IaaS and high-availability 24/7 systems.
• Proven expertise in distributed systems, application integrations (on-prem and SaaS), identity systems, and data governance (e.g., data mesh).
• Extensive hands-on experience building large-scale data platforms using Apache Spark, AWS S3, and cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience delivering self-service data solutions and managing high-volume pipelines integrating with 50+ data systems.
• Expert knowledge of systems patterns (e.g., N-tier, MVC) and API frameworks such as OpenAPI.
• Experience in Scrum or Kanban environments.
• Strong educational background (M.Sc/M.Eng or B.A/B.Sc. in Computer Science/Engineering) or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced familiarity with data platform reliability practices (monitoring/alerting/test automation) in production-grade streaming/batch systems.
