About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineering Manager for a US remote team building an agent-powered mission console for frontline national security use.

You will lead a team of ~5 engineers (growing to ~7) and balance management (60–70%) with hands-on technical work (30–40%).

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the Agents team, including code review, architecture, and unblocking engineers
Design, ship, and scale the agent-powered mission console
Scale the flagship product and expand to new use cases and international allied partners
Partner with product managers, designers, and mission specialists to deliver outcomes aligned to operator workflows
Guide implementation of robust agentic workflows using modern agent frameworks, with a pragmatic delivery bias
Hire and mentor senior individual contributors and build a culture of ownership, velocity, and mission impact

Requirements

8+ years full-stack software engineering experience
3+ years leading engineering teams of 5–10 people
Proven experience building and scaling customer-facing AI agents / LLM-powered products in production
Full-stack proficiency with Python, TypeScript, and React
Familiarity with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph and/or Pydantic AI (or similar)
Strong product instincts; experience shipping user-facing software iteratively with PMs and designers
Strong interest in hands-on technical leadership alongside mentoring
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
US citizenship or permanent residency; willingness to travel to offsites and customer sites

Nice to Haves

Experience with defense, national security, or government customers
Background in high-growth, product-led SaaS or AI-first environments

Compensation & Benefits

$200,000–$260,000 base plus competitive equity
