About the role

Role overview

Lead a Product-Led Growth (PLG) engineering team to improve customer activation, engagement, retention, and expansion for a modern travel and spend management platform. You’ll partner closely with product, design, data/analytics, and business teams to drive experimentation, optimize in-product experiences, and accelerate feature adoption through data-driven iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on customer growth and retention.
  • Develop and optimize in-product experiences, including:
    • onboarding and activation
    • cross-sell opportunities
    • repeat usage flows
  • Drive continuous improvement and technical excellence (accountability, rapid experimentation, engineering best practices).
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring scalable, secure, high-quality delivery.
  • Implement AI-assisted engineering practices and automation to improve productivity and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and business stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and align priorities.
  • Establish/refine agile workflows and engineering processes (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
  • Contribute to long-term technical strategy, scalability planning, and platform innovation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including significant engineering management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, scalable software delivery with high-performing engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical background with modern stacks, including:
    • Node.js
    • Ruby on Rails
    • React
    • AWS
    • Terraform
    • observability (e.g., Datadog)
  • Experience using AI-powered development tools/workflows to increase engineering velocity.
  • Deep knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with a focus on accountability and performance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to bridge technical and business discussions.
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
