Software Engineering Lead

Role Overview

Lead Software Engineering role (Lead/Senior) for a SaaS company improving transportation safety and efficiency. This is a 100% remote position for PST/MST timezone candidates. The team is a Microsoft shop with strong emphasis on OOP and modern cloud + event-driven architecture, with openings for both backend-leaning and frontend-leaning Lead/Senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership to engineers; drive accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth
• Provide technical direction via code reviews, architectural input, and hands-on problem solving
• Define team objectives, monitor progress, and coach/mentor engineers
• Design and deliver scalable, secure, high-performing software solutions
• Drive delivery of key initiatives with alignment on timelines, quality, and organizational priorities
• Build and enhance API integrations using modern cloud technologies
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps
• Partner with DevOps to improve deployment workflows, reliability, and monitoring
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and technical decisions
• Improve development workflows, system performance, and team efficiency; champion modern tools and engineering practices

Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience
• 2+ years experience leading or mentoring engineers
• Strong OOP proficiency in C#/.NET (ideally) with experience in one or more of: C#, Java, Python
• Desirable: JavaScript or TypeScript
• Experience building APIs and working with RESTful services in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP/CRM/HRIS) and data formats (JSON, XML, CSV)
• Experience with messaging/middleware such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Background with large-scale data or high-throughput transactional systems
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams

• Emphasis on distributed systems, event-driven architecture
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and SOLID engineering principles

Compensation & Benefits

• $160,000 – $175,000 base salary (depending on experience)
• 15% bonus
