About the role
Role Overview
Join Databento’s Platform/API engineering team as a Software Engineer (TypeScript/JavaScript). You’ll build and maintain the company’s JavaScript client library, integrate native functionality, and contribute to responsive front-end and full-stack projects.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and promote the JavaScript client library, ensuring it is robust, well-tested, and easy for external users to adopt
- Integrate native libraries into JavaScript/TypeScript (e.g., via N-API, node-addon-api, or Wasm)
- Contribute to full-stack projects, including backend work (Python or Rust), REST API design, and databases/migrations
- Collaborate with design to translate designs into production-ready components and design systems
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and document components (e.g., library/component docs)
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support smooth feature rollouts and updates
Requirements
- Hands-on backend experience building APIs, working with databases, and performing migrations
- Experience documenting components (e.g., Storybook or similar tooling)
- Ability to work between design and engineering teams to deliver production-ready design systems (including tooling like Figma handoffs)
- Full-stack experience with backends in Python or Rust, including REST API design
- Proficiency with React, Redux, Vite, Web Workers, and WebSockets
- Strong communication skills and a reliable work ethic for a remote environment

- Background in trading, market data, or quantitative finance
