About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer Technical Lead (Remote, long-term contract)

You will lead and shape the technical direction of frontend projects, with a strong focus on reusable UI components, a scalable design system, and micro-frontend architecture.

Responsibilities

Design and develop reusable, scalable React components and pattern libraries using modern frontend architecture.
Build and maintain design system components that support micro-frontend architectures using Webpack Module Federation.
Identify and resolve inconsistencies in component usage and enforce adherence to design system standards across distributed applications.
Collaborate with design, product, and engineering to drive adoption of unified components and shared frontend standards.
Partner with developers to implement, integrate, and QA components across multiple micro-frontends.
Champion the design system by advocating its value and demonstrating improvements in development efficiency and user experience.
Continuously evolve the design system with:
- User feedback
- Accessibility (WCAG)
- Performance optimization
- Emerging frontend trends
Lead technical discussions and mentor junior developers; uphold frontend best practices.
Provide strategic input on technology choices and architecture decisions aligned to business goals.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript.
Experience with component-driven architecture (e.g., Storybook).
Proven experience implementing design systems in micro-frontend ecosystems using Webpack Module Federation (or similar).
Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and modern styling approaches (e.g., CSS-in-JS, Tailwind).
Figma proficiency to translate design tokens and UI specs into production components.
Knowledge of design tokens, theming, and cross-platform UI consistency.
Strong focus on performance optimization and accessibility (WCAG).
Leadership experience mentoring/guiding development teams.
