Software Engineer

Role Overview

Release Recovery is hiring a Software Engineer with strong full-stack experience to design, build, and maintain digital products across web, mobile, backend, and infrastructure. You’ll own features end-to-end and work closely with product and partner-facing teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications across web and mobile using:
  • React, React Native, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js
• Build and maintain backend systems and APIs using:
  • Node.js, GraphQL, REST, PostgreSQL
• Architect and integrate secure, scalable services on AWS
• Create accessible, responsive, high-performance user interfaces
• Write clean, maintainable code focused on reliability and testability
• Define and analyze product analytics/event tracking (uses Amplitude) to understand:
  • user behavior, funnels, and feature adoption
• Monitor, debug, and optimize application performance and system health
• Translate product/business requirements into well-scoped technical solutions
• Own technical execution from concept through release
• Write and manage engineering tickets and contribute to sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
• Collaborate on user flows and feature design with attention to accessibility and brand standards
• Contribute to production releases for web/mobile (builds, testing, deployments)
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; improve internal tooling/automation/processes
• Ensure systems meet HIPAA and data privacy/security requirements

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Strong full-stack background, including:
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, GraphQL
  • Backend: Node.js, PostgreSQL, REST/GraphQL APIs
  • Infrastructure: AWS (or comparable cloud)
• Experience shipping and owning production systems on AWS
• Solid understanding of database design, backend architecture, and API performance
• Ability to work across web and mobile
• Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Notion)
• Ability to own features end-to-end in a fast-paced environment
• Clear communicator and strong problem-solving mindset

Nice to Have

• Experience in health tech, education, or other mission-driven organizations
• Experience with React Native or shipping mobile releases
• Familiarity with observability, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation
• Prior experience in HIPAA-regulated environments

Other

• Occasional after-hours availability for releases/urgent production issues
• Occasional travel for team offsites
