Software Engineer (Python/Django)

Role Overview

Software Engineer (Python/Django) at Allocore. You will help shape the platform and architecture while building scalable, high-performance backend applications for a major federal client.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Python and Django
• Develop robust APIs with Django REST Framework (DRF)
• Implement asynchronous processing (e.g., Celery) for high-performance workloads
• Optimize data handling and performance using PostgreSQL and caching strategies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers
• Participate in and lead code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code
• Troubleshoot complex technical and performance issues
• Contribute to system architecture and technical direction (including microservices design)
• Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience with strong Python and Django
• Experience building scalable, high-performance web applications
• Strong understanding of APIs, backend architecture, and web technologies
• Database experience with PostgreSQL (or MySQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience with modern development tooling (Git, CI/CD, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain government clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

Nice to Have

• Fintech or other regulated environments experience
• Familiarity with React or Angular (or similar frontend frameworks)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices
• Open-source contributions or active engineering community involvement

Location / Travel

• Primarily remote with occasional travel to the DC area for key team and client engagements.
