Software Engineer - Python (Advanced)

Role Overview

Software Engineer – Python (Advanced) to design, implement, and optimize production-grade software and data workflows supporting cutting-edge AI development.

Contract: Hourly, 10–40 hours/week. Fully remote with flexible, task-based work (no meetings/commute; no rigid schedule).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize advanced Python for production-level systems
• Analyze and manipulate structured datasets for engineering and AI modeling workflows
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation
• Review, debug, and improve existing codebases for performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Translate ambiguous high-level requirements into clear, well-reasoned technical solutions
• Evaluate tradeoffs and recommend best-fit approaches using consulting-style thinking
• Document assumptions, decisions, and implementation details precisely

Requirements

• 4+ years professional software engineering experience
• Advanced Python proficiency (clean architecture, performance optimization, debugging)
• Strong experience analyzing real-world datasets
• Solid SQL skills, including complex queries and data validation
• Ability to reason through open-ended problems and deliver structured, well-documented solutions
• Prior consulting/client-facing experience is a plus

Nice to Have

• Experience with large, messy, or unstructured datasets
• Familiarity with backend systems, REST APIs, or data pipelines
• Ability to review and evaluate AI-generated code or analytical outputs
• Strong written communication and attention to detail
