About the role
Role Overview
You’ll be a member of Verse’s technical staff building product experiences for clean energy buyers. The role is “full stack,” covering both frontend and backend components of Verse’s Buyer Solutions applications.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a team mindset focused on well-designed systems, test-driven development, and transparent, proactive communication
- Collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to deliver intuitive, user-friendly software experiences
- Design, build, test, debug, maintain, and scale user-facing features across the stack
- Build and integrate frontend components with backend APIs, including interactive data visualizations
- Implement backend APIs/middleware and integrate them with databases and blob storage
- Manage authentication and authorization (sessions/tokens) using providers such as Clerk (and/or Auth0)
- Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability using CDNs/content delivery
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, systems, and architectures as the product evolves
- Use generative AI tools as part of day-to-day work
Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
- Customer empathy and strong drive to build high-quality user experiences
- Hands-on experience in both frontend (TypeScript/React) and backend (Go/Python) ecosystems
- Ability to translate complex product requirements into working software and communicate effectively with engineers and designers
- Commitment to high-quality delivery on time (or early) while following best practices
- Continuous learning mindset for modern tools and technologies
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Senior/Staff-level software development experience and proven technical leadership in product engineering teams
- Strong TypeScript and Go expertise; advanced Python experience is a plus
- Experience with gRPC + Protocol Buffers (Buf’s Connect SDK)
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and blob storage
