About the role
Role Overview
Procom is seeking a Software Engineer – Tax Credit Regulations for a remote contract role in the United States. The position supports clients during US R&D credit reviews by coordinating with software/engineering subject matter experts and preparing technical documentation on how engineering projects qualify for R&D tax credits.
Responsibilities
- Lead meetings with software and other engineering subject matter experts to support clients during R&D credit reviews
- Review and draft technical memoranda explaining how client engineering projects qualify for US R&D tax credits
- Assist with managing and delivering large projects tied to R&D credit reviews and study preparation
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
- Proven experience in computer science, IT, or technical management, including competencies across:
- software development
- hardware development
- IT systems
- Working knowledge of current development technologies, including web development, XML, Java, JavaScript, C#, AI tools, database technologies, open source, mobile apps, and related technologies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong intellectual curiosity
- Knowledge of R&D tax credit issues and US R&D tax credit regulations
- Client relationship management proficiency
- Automation and digitization proficiency
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience preparing and supporting engineering/software-based US R&D tax credit studies
