About the role
Role overview
Software Engineer on the Platform Services team, building foundational systems for identity, authentication, and integration across MeridianLink’s multi-product platform. You’ll design, implement, and maintain services that manage identity federation and authentication/authorization flows, using AI-assisted development workflows.
Key missions
- Design, implement, and maintain platform services for federated identity, authentication flows, and authorization enforcement.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design, implementation, and validation.
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews, providing/receiving feedback constructively.
Responsibilities / what you’ll build
- Backend services exposing RESTful APIs and identity-related capabilities.
- Integration of identity protocols into real-world applications.
- Authorization modeling and enforcement within application/platform services.
- Support multi-tenant SaaS integration patterns with tenant-scoped configuration and identity boundaries.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT, including how authorization frameworks work in practice.
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience; able to independently own and deliver features in production.
- Practical authorization framework understanding (policy modeling, enforcement, integration).
- Backend experience building services in .NET or Python with RESTful APIs.
- Production experience implementing/integrating federated identity systems using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML 2.0, and/or JWT.
- Cloud familiarity (AWS preferred) including networking/compute/secrets managed services.
- Proficiency with modern backend API frameworks (e.g., .NET 9+, FastAPI, etc.).
- Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS integration patterns (tenant-scoped config, user identity across boundaries).
- Daily use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent).
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and automated testing.
- Working knowledge of identity protocol mechanics: authorization code flow, token introspection, claims-based access, assertion handling, and SSO logout behavior.
- Engineering experience with commercial/open-source identity platforms (OIDC provider, IAM, or enterprise SSO).
- Token security considerations: signing, expiration, revocation, and safe storage.
- Experience implementing fine-grained authorization (e.g., RBAC, ABAC, or policy-based access control).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in financial services/fintech/regulated tech.
- Exposure to SOC 2 (engineering perspective).
- Experience building internal platform capabilities for other engineering teams.
- Exposure to AI harnesses/evaluation pipelines/tooling to improve engineering throughput.
- Ability to use AI beyond autocomplete (design exploration, test generation, investigation).
- Comfort using AI tools for design and debugging/investigation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
