Software Engineer (Platform Security)

Role Overview

Software Engineer (Platform Security) (Full remote) at Glean. You will build and strengthen security across the platform by implementing security features, reviewing code, and helping teams adopt security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test security features across software components, with a focus on:
  • Authentication & Authorization
  • Secure communication
  • Secure data storage
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Conduct security code reviews and identify security risks.
• Stay current on security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigations, and continuously improve the platform’s security posture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with a strong security focus.
• Strong understanding of secure coding principles and best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
• Familiarity with security testing approaches and tools (e.g., static code analysis, penetration testing).
• Experience with secure communication protocols (e.g., TLS/SSL).
• Proven ability to design and implement secure authentication and authorization systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication/collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Haves

• Cloud security experience and tools (e.g., AWS Security, GCP Security).
• Container security experience (e.g., Docker security, Kubernetes security).
• Strong coding skills (e.g., Go, Python, Java, C++) with an emphasis on reliability and scale, plus writing well-tested components.
• BS/BA in Computer Science (or related); MS is a plus.
• Interest in learning and owning broader parts of security.
