Software Engineer - Platform / Core Infrastructure - Americas

Role Overview

Software Engineer focused on Platform / Core Infrastructure at XBOW. You will design and implement the distributed infrastructure that powers the core AI engine and distributed analysis systems, enabling XBOW to run across AWS, Azure, OCI and multiple deployment contexts (SaaS and on-prem).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure systems deployable across multiple cloud environments (AWS/Azure/OCI) and contexts (SaaS/on-prem).
• Tune and optimize compute, storage, networking, and observability to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build and enhance core services in TypeScript, Kotlin, and Go (and ramp up quickly if needed).
• Support large-scale systems using event-driven architectures.
• Own problems end-to-end: design → deployment → production support.
• Navigate ambiguity and help define how the team builds.
• Partner with engineers, AI researchers, and security researchers to deliver high-quality, high-velocity product work.
• Improve deployment and monitoring practices at scale; design for resilience via disaster recovery and business continuity.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating scalable distributed systems on cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).
• Extensive experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform and/or AWS CDK) and ability to treat infra as part of the engineering system.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and async workflows (e.g., Kafka).
• Track record of performance tuning across cloud services, databases, and compute.
• Comfort learning new tools/languages; strong communication and clarity.
• Strong problem-solving skills in ambiguous environments.

• Experience working across layers of the stack (infrastructure to application/service behavior).
• Proactive thinking about failure modes and resilience engineering.
